What Happens When You Apply a Strengths-Based Lens to Your Relationship with Alcohol?

If you’ve followed my work for any amount of time, you know I’m deeply committed to helping leaders operate in alignment — with their values, their energy, and their natural strengths.

I’m also a certified sobriety coach — and that this work is connected to everything I teach about leadership and strengths.

Four years ago, I made the decision to take a closer look at my own relationship with alcohol. Not because anything was “wrong,” but because something felt off. I noticed how alcohol was quietly draining my energy, clarity, and presence — the very things I was working so hard to strengthen as a business leader.

What surprised me most was this:

Alcohol was often working against my strengths.

High-achieving women are especially good at pushing through stress, fatigue, and burnout. Many of our dominant strengths make it easy to normalize habits that help us “cope” short-term, even when they cost us long-term.

When I stopped drinking, I noticed immediate shifts:

  • More consistent energy

  • Clearer thinking and better decision-making

  • Improved emotional regulation

  • Greater alignment between my values and my behaviors

In other words: my strengths worked better.

That insight is what led me to become a sobriety coach and to create a 31-Day Alcohol-Free Challenge & Group Coaching Course, launching January 1 for Dry January 2026.

This isn’t about perfection, labels, or dramatic declarations. It’s about doing a 31-day experiment using a strengths-based, shame-free, judgment-free framework to better understand:

  • What role alcohol actually plays in your life

  • Which strengths may be driving certain habits

  • How to build alcohol-free habits that support your leadership role

Inside the course, you'll receive:

  • Daily short video lessons grounded in behavior change science

  • 4x weekly group coaching sessions for reflection and accountability

  • Your Top 5 CliftonStrengths, used intentionally to support habit change

  • Practical tools you can apply long after January ends

  • Dry January Special Price: $97! (Reg. price $299)

If you’re curious — professionally or personally — I invite you to consider Dry January as a leadership reset rather than a restriction.

You don’t need to change everything.

You just need to get curious and test what’s possible when your strengths are fully supported.
